10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint Design
The book Presenting to Win: The Art of Telling Your Story, Updated and Expanded Edition by Jerry Weissman reminded me that in Corporate America and in most presentation arenas, we tend to let PowerPoint slides do our talking, both within our presentation and after it is said and done. We can correct this by following Guy Kawasaki’s 10/20/30 Rule. Using this rule will help you abide by Weissman’s over-arching principles in presentations – you should “[relegate] your graphics to a supporting role, making you, the presenter, the primary focus.” This article will show you how to apply it to your presentations. Why I am a 4G Holdout
Greetings from sunny and hot Florida! While reading the St. Petersburg Times on Sunday morning my mother stumbled across an article titled What You Should Know About 4G by Peter Svensson of the Associated Press. In the article he states that carriers such Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon are promising faster speeds through “4G” technology and that consumes should not jump on the bandwagon yet. Here is my take on the 4G hype and why I will be waiting a couple years before moving to the technology.
